Hailing from across the causeway, Mr S. Kolandasamy has an extensive list of awards under his name within the insurance industry. Despite graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, he has taken a different career path and has not looked back since. Known as Mr SK Samy in the industry, he has 36 years of experience as a financial practitioner which has yielded an agency with an immensely high retention rate of 95 percent.

The Immediate Past President of National Association of Malaysian Life Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAMLIFA), Mr SK Samy has also attained numerous accolades such as qualifying for the Million Dollar Producers Club on four occasions, qualifying for the MDRT (USA) twice and achieving the Million Dollar Agency award 16 times. Vice Chairman Mr Samuel Lau (Hong Kong)

Samuel Lau joined the insurance industry in 1980. From his beginnings as a sales agent, Samuel worked his way to the top with his extraordinary performance, and became the Senior Regional Director of Fortis Insurance Company (Asia) Limited. In 2008, he was appointed as the Company Consultant. Being passionate in his career, Samuel is dedicated himself in serving the insurance industry by holding many positions in the insurance associations of Hong Kong.

Mr Samuel Lau was the former President of the Life Underwriters Association of Hong Kong (LUAHK).
He has also served a variety of positions in social welfare and education field voluntary, such as the Director of ABM Hong Kong Swatow Baptist Church Community Service Association and the member of
Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation.

Honorary Secretary Mr Matthew Kang (Singapore)

Mr Matthew Kang is a Senior Director of Financial Service with Manulife (Singapore) Pte Ltd and has been with the Company for more than 22 years. He served as the President of the Insurance & Financial Practitioners Association of Singapore (IFPAS) for two terms in 1999 to 2001.

Apart from the financial industry, Matthew Kang is also very active in the community in Singapore. He is actively involved in the game of football and was once the Chairman of one of Singapore's most successful professional football club. Matthew Kang is the Chairman of the 30,000-strong New Creation Church in Singapore.

Matthew holds a MBA in Strategic Wealth Management, the Chartered Wealth Management from AAFM, USA and the Certificate in Law (Estate Planning).

His involvement with APFinSA started from day one of the birth of the association and the followings are the records of his involvement:

Honorary Treasurer Mr Banyong Witayaweerasak (Thailand)

Mr Banyong Witayaweerasak has a wealth of experience in the financial industry and has worked in the insurance field for more than 25 years. He is actively involved in many social activities and projects serving the community in Thailand. After graduating from the faculty of Pharmacy, Banyong Witayaweerasak worked as a volunteer in public health for a year before joining AIA in 1986.

Mr Banyong was in the Committee of a public company, Community Pharmacy Public Company Limited, for more than 10 years. He has been invited to serve in Education working groups from both the office of Insurance Commission and Thai Life Assurance Association. Mr Banyong is a business columnist for a leading business newspaper in Thailand. He has written many articles about financial and business issues for the past 20 years and he is the author of a pocket book named "Financial Fraud".

He was the President of Thai Association of Insurance and Financial Advisor (THAIFA) during 2009-2011. In his term, he revitalized the FChFP course which is now very popular among Thai insurance agents. Currently, Mr Banyong is the advisor to THAIFA Board. He also serves as a committee member of the International Certification and Standard Board (also referred to as the "ICSB") which is a key standing committee of APFinSA, governing the FChFP curriculum.

Mr Banyong holds 2 designations, FChFP and RFC. He was the founder of "ThaiFinancialAdvisor.com" which is the very first financial planning web site in Thailand. He has worked in Insurance field for more than 25 years. At present, Mr Banyong is a District Manager in AIA (Thailand).

Immediate Past Chairman Mr Edmund Wee (Singapore)

Edmund Wee continues to display passion and zeal in helping his clients find the best possible solutions to their financial needs. Edmund's impressive industry track record similarly reflects his positive attitude to his line of work. Not only was Edmund an MDRT member from 2000 to 2003, he also served as President of the Insurance Financial Practitioners Association of Singapore (IFPAS) during the same period in 2002 to 2003 and a second time from 2006 to 2007. Since Edmund was elected as President, he has managed to boost the membership of the organization by a significant 10 percent.
